Hosting International Folklore Music and Dance Festival BOHINJ 2018 in Idrija

Between 12 and 17 June, the 3rd International Music and Dance Folklore Festival will take place in Bohinj. This time, the Festival will also be performing in Idrija for one day, as the organizers want to show the diversity and beauty of Slovenia to the visiting groups. Folklore groups will be performing in Idrija on Saturday, 16 June, between 2 PM and 3:30 PM at St. Ahacius' Square. There will be folklore groups from 5 countries. Slovenia will be represented by the Folklore Group of the Bohinj Cultural Society. Serbia will be represented by a group of young performers from Belgrade, the Folklore Group Sv. Sava. Two folklore groups come from Bulgaria: the first group is Jarava from Pravets, the second one is The Crazy Youngsters from Plovdiv. We will also host a group Kauškutis from Mazeikiai from Lithuania and a group from Turkey, more precisely from the Bahcesehir University.

We believe that the colourful and versatile performances will be real eye-catchers.

Fair of Cottage Industry and Handicraft Products, Bobbin Lace-Making Equipment and Culinary Specialities

Every year, the Idrija Lace Festival hosts a traditional Fair of Cottage Industry and Handicraft Products and Bobbin Lace-Making Equipment, which is primarily intended for producers of Idrija lace and lace-making equipment as well as for other artists who creatively apply Idrija lace in their artistic work. Every year, numerous artists from Slovenia and abroad are presented at the Fair. Visiting the Fair is an excellent opportunity to buy products with Idrija lace, lace-making equipment, handicraft products, appropriate gifts, clothing, fashion accessories, jewellery, cosmetics and local culinary specialties.

You can take a walk along the footsteps of the Idrija miners. The guides will take you through the mysterious underground world of the quick silver mine, to hidden corners with precious cinnabar ore and drops of indigenous quick silver as well as to the unique underground chapel. Through narration and anecdotes, the visitors will get to know the work and life of the miners.

Experience Quick Silver - Hg Smeltery

You can continue your tour at the Hg Smeltery and walk through the interactive and educational quick silver exhibition. In this way, you will see the entire pathway of the ore from the mine to the smeltery. Through experiments, animations, videos and equipment, you will get to know and experience the importance of the unique liquid metal that has changed the world and influenced the development of human civilization.

Idrija Heritage Centre invites you again to the RECREATION RUNNING RACE FOR GOLDEN BOBBIN, which will be held as part of the 37th Idrija Lace Festival. The sports event is intended for all sport lovers, for both young people and people young in the heart, for families, friends, clubs, and companies. The purpose of the Race is primarily active enjoyment of the rich Idrija heritage and the relaxed festival atmosphere.

The route of the 5 km race track goes along the Rake water canal up to the Kobila dam and back. It is suitable for both beginners and experienced runners of all age groups.

This year too, we will organize the race for children under the age of 5. That is why we are especially inviting all the youngest runners to join us and win their first Golden Bobbin.

This year, the tombola will be held at the 37th Idrija Lace Festival on Saturday, June 16 at 5 PM at St. Ahacius' Square. Tombola will be hosted by the amusing and entertaining host Toni Cahunek. The visitors will be able to get the tombola tickets exclusively at the sales stands on Saturday, 16 June from 9 AM to 5 PM, for each purchase over 5 Euros. Wind Ensembles Parade

The regional meeting of wind ensembles from northern Slovene Littoral will take place during the Idrija Lace Festival, on Saturday, 16 June 2018 in Idrija from 4 PM to 5 PM. During the parade, which will take place between the Bus Station and the Town Square, the ensembles will be presented in marching i.e., in figurative performance. The parade will be finished with the common concert of all the ensembles on the Town Square. The ensembles will be judged by a professional selector.
